What started as a harmless livestream idea has officially turned into a community-backed victory. The Beard or Bust goal has been met — and honestly, you all absolutely blew the meter up.
Thank you to everyone who supported the show, jumped into the livestreams, sent Super Chats, donated, shared the challenge, laughed along with the chaos, and helped push Beard or Bust over the top. This community continues to show up in ways that are funny, generous, and slightly concerning for the future of my face.
The beard is officially happening. Now the next phase begins: deciding what counts as a successful beard. Because apparently, even facial hair needs rules, standards, and probably a committee.
So… How Did This Start?
Like most questionable decisions in ham radio, this one started live on the internet. During a recent episode of Brew & Activate, Shannon, KC1OHT, casually tossed out the idea that if the community raised enough through Super Chats, I should grow a beard.
Now, a normal person would have laughed it off and moved on. But this is ham radio, where we build antennas out of wire scraps, argue about coax loss, and somehow turn everything into a challenge. So here we are.
The goal was simple: hit the Beard or Bust target, and the beard happens. The community did exactly that. The beard is no longer hypothetical — my face is officially the project. No soldering required.
